Precinct News is an online companion journal to the award-winning print magazine from UTS Journalism, Precinct. It is published by the Graduate School of Journalism.
Precinct News contains stories by students in the subjects Research & Reporting and Feature Writing. Research & Reporting is the first core subject in the postgraduate journalism program at UTS. The stories appearing in In Short are the first stories written by students as an assignment. Their longer stories are published in News. The students also covered events at the Sydney Writers’ Festival in Autumn semester and the Sydney Fringe Festival in Spring semester as a writing-under-pressure exercise for Research & Reporting. A selection of their reports appears in Festival News. Stories appearing in Features and Profiles have been written by Feature Writing students as assignments.
